It appears to have worked for them, but not me. I have used this post as guidance to get where I am. I have tried to install add-on from file selecting both the link and the original and neither works. I when I open the add-ons page I do not see the java plugin. I have installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on a USB drive, booted it up, installed JRE 8u251, created a symbolic link for libnpjp2.so in home/ubuntu/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins, downloaded and extracted Pale Moon 29.1.0 and then run the pale moon program from the extracted files. My goal is to have a web browser that can still run java applets, and I think I am very close but struggling to get the final step completed by adding the java plugin to pale moon. Easiest fix is install both 32 and 64 bit versions of Java. Resolved: Java needs to be 64 bit if Palemoon is 64, or vice versa.
